Hand hooked pillows have a hand stitched 100% wool face. Needlepoint pillows have beautiful textured look. Petit Point pillows have finer stitch than needlepoint. Some pillows use a Mixed Stitch, combining Petit Point for the fine detail and Needlepoint for the background. Michaelian Home also offers cotton print pillows.
Pillows have a cotton velvet back. A zipper is added for easy cleaning. The standard insert is soft polyester, but for a small fee you can choose luxurious cushy feathered down.
Michaelian Home can date its history in textiles to the 1920s when Frank Michaelian, of Armenian descent, was one of the first Americans to import textiles from the Middle East and India. A world traveler and home body, Frank Michaelian also set up a weaving center in China and started a rug hooking mill in North Carolina. In doing so, he produced the finest hand knotted rugs, needlepoint pillows, and hooked pillows and rugs; a legacy that continues today.
